Upmarket shoemakers Loake has opening their first ever store. The new shop is in the recently refurbished Prince’s Arcade in Piccadilly. Prince’s Arcade, in between Fortnum & Mason and Isaac Newton's house, and close to Jermyn Street, is fast becoming a retail destination for upmarket menswear.

luxury men's shoes
Many people might be surprised to hear that the luxury men’s shoe industry is thriving in Britain. Loake was established in Kettering in Northamptonshire and it still manufactures there today. In 2007 the company opened a new warehouse to handle increasing demand.
Church’s shoes was bought by the PRADA Group in 1999, since when stores have opened in Milan, Paris and New York, with more planned. Its still manufactures in the UK as does Crockett & Jones and these classic men’s shoes designers are also thriving. Even during the current difficult economic climate both groups are finding a ready supply of customers keen to pay anything between around £250 and £600 for a pair of shoes.  But as Church’s, whose shoes take up to eight weeks to produce, is keen to point out, its Goodyear welting and other the aspects of handcrafting allow these shoes to be easily repaired time and again.
