Fabergé opens its first New York Boutique

My blue heaven:
Blue Sapphire ring by Faberge

Fabergé has opened its first New York boutique, at 694 Madison Avenue. The jewel-like boutique, intimate, inviting, a haven of luxury, is designed to balance opulence and modernity, in contemporary Fabergé style.
In the spirit of the spectacular flagship in Geneva, the Madison Avenue store is decorated in exquisite materials, silk curtains and wall panels, brushed oak flooring, painted wood accents, in a soft, sensual palette of grey and silver, punctuated with a rich purple button-backed wall, subtly evoking Romanov splendour. The striking facade of the boutique, a champagne coloured lattice, is inspired by the Coronation Egg, one of the legendary Imperial Easter eggs created by Peter Carl Fabergé in 1897, in celebration of the coronation of Tsar Nicholas II.
The new 850 square foot boutique will house Fabergé High and Fine Jewellery, Handmade Timepieces, Cufflinks, and Silver collections. Designed under the artistic direction of Creative and Managing Director, Katharina Flohr, the collections are testament to the eminence of contemporary Fabergé artistry and jewellery making. The new designs include exquisitely crafted one of a kind necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings destined to become investment pieces; as well as couture egg pendants that test the boundaries of contemporary craftsmanship.
To celebrate Fabergé’s historic links with America’s great families – the Vanderbilts, Forbes and Morgans amongst others – the Madison Avenue boutique will launch with an exclusive new collection, Les Précieuses de Fabergé paying tribute to the unrivalled style of America’s Gilded Age society.   Les Précieuses comprises a series of precious single stone cocktail rings and delicate earrings.   The creations are each centred on a rare and dramatic coloured stone, set in an intricate diamond mount in two colours of gold, subtly interwoven with iconic Fabergé style references.
Fabulous Faberge: The New York Store
A century ago, the House of Fabergé, under the legendary Peter Carl Fabergé, goldsmith to the Russian Imperial Court, attracted the elite of America’s Gilded Age society, collectors and connoisseurs.  Henry Walters sailed his yacht up the River Neva in St Petersburg to pay a personal visit to Peter Carl Fabergé.  The banker J. P. Morgan was a devoted client.  For the Duchess of Marlborough, Consuelo Vanderbilt, considered one of the most beautiful and stylish women of her day, Fabergé created a spectacular pink enamelled clock egg, one of the few major egg objects made for clients other than the Romanovs.
In the years after the closure of the House of Fabergé during the Russian Revolution, and through the 20th century, great American women of style and substance, including Marjorie Merriweather Post and Lillian Thomas Pratt, whose collection is now in Richmond’s Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, have been amongst the avid and discerning collectors of Fabergé works of art. Other great American Fabergé collectors include the Louisiana heiress, Matilda Geddings Gray, India Early Minshall, of Ohio, and more recently the comedian Joan Rivers and most notably, Malcolm Forbes, whose unrivalled collection included nine Fabergé Imperial Easter Eggs.

New men's cufflinks from Faberge

Fabergé has just launched a new collection of jewelled and gold cufflinks, wittily inspired by the celebrated cigarette cases of the historic House of Fabergé.
One to watch: the new collection from Faberge
Living its legacy, Fabergé has created an innovative and contemporary new cufflink collection, bringing its passion for craftsmanship and design into the realm of men’s accessories. With characteristic Fabergé wit and verve, the collection links the historic designs of the many cufflinks, dress-sets and famous cigarette cases created by the House of Fabergé in the early 20th century, with their exquisitely refined yet masculine gold work, ribbed, swirled, textured and coloured, becoming the most elegant and fashionable male accessories of the day.
The designs of the cufflink collection translate classic Fabergé themes into strong contemporary styles: the sunburst motif, in rose gold, enamel or carved stone, the iconic egg shape, in both the cufflink itself, in the form of carved hard stones, and in the smooth gold fittings; rococo, in the round gold links with inset diamond swirls; matelassé, the sumptuous quilted gold of Les Favorites de Fabergé; mother of pearl “framed” in rose gold; and the “cigarette case” cufflinks of rectangular ribbed and gem set gold, a line running around the silhouette to give the impression of opening, and a cabochon sapphire as the “clasp”.
The techniques and materials remain true to Fabergé: stone carving, in rock crystal carved into an egg-shape, set over a slice of lapis or ruby, or the striking deep blue lapis lazuli egg shapes carved with a deep ribbed sunburst design, centred with a blue sapphire, coloured gold, engraved, textured or quilted, and the refinement of superb hand-craftsmanship, gem setting and precious, perfect jewelled details. They are, absolutely Fabergé.

Faberge launches online boutique

The luxury sector has found online retailing difficult. Creating a luxury experience is much easier in a store than it is on the Internet. Having expensive products delivered by post or courier is risky - and having customers wondering where their purchases are and complaining about hanging on for call centres is even riskier.
iPad therefore I want: Faberge goes online
However, Net a Porter showed that it can be done and now more and more luxury retailers are following suit. The latest is Faberge.
The iconic master jeweller brings its legacy into the 21st century with a new state-of-the-art online boutique, launching on 16th April 2012. Clients are invited to discover the world of Fabergé online, exploring its rich history and browsing the brand’s contemporary high and fine jewellery collections.
To complement Fabergé’s existing network of retail stores, the online boutique has been given a new look with a signature blend of refined sophistication and modernity. Each of the collections – Les Saisons Russes, Les Fabuleuses, Les Fameux, Le Carnet de Bal, Solyanka and Les Favorites - is represented by a hand-painted vibrant illustration capturing the artistry, romance and legend of Fabergé.  The illustrations set an elaborate backdrop to the jewels and pictorially tell the story behind each collection.
The site also features an interactive area where clients can engage further with the world of Fabergé, experiencing special projects such as the Mir Fabergé ar t initiative, available also as an iPad application.

The online boutique offers Fabergé clients a seamless shopping experience.
