The Chinese love French labels, as we all known but their
interest in Italian brands is also developing fast. Canali, for example,
continues to expand in China, opening its fourth boutique in Shanghai in this
year of the snake.
Full of Eastern promise - Canali has opened two new stores in the Far East this month |
The 21st May saw the
opening of a 200 sq m store in the luxury Westgate Mall. The retail space presents
a new architectural concept which reflects the brand’s values and tradition and
draws on its renewed visual identity. The four display windows, two on the
prestigious Nanjing Road West and two more inside the Mall, feature a special
three-dimensional version of the exclusive Canali texture.
Two small diamonds made from matte black
metal, which intersect into infinity like the infinite “stitches” needed to
transform a Canali suit into reality, will transfix passers-by at night with
some stunning lighting effects.
The interior of the
boutique, which has its entrance inside the Mall, skillfully combines fine
materials, including ‘Silk Georgette’ stone, luxurious leathers and smart
crystal glass in shades of grey, to celebrate all Canali’s collections to the
full, from the fine tailoring to the leisurewear and accessories.
The ceiling is particularly striking,
featuring grey walnut parallelepiped structures that emit light and seem to
float in mid air.
The next Canali opened
a flagship store in Hong Kong, its fourth boutique in the Asian metropolis.
Blending tradition and modernity, the store with its 260 sq m of retail space
at 20 Pedder Street, is in the heart of one of Hong Kong’s luxury shopping
thoroughfares, where the finest materials, in contrasting colours, including
grey stone, dark walnut and warm colour tone glass, provide the backdrop for a
sophisticated ambiance with a decisive and authoritative personality.
The Canali store interior is about understated luxury |
The statue in the display window is an
installation created exclusively for the flagship store in Canali’s new
corporate colours of grey and yellow. The statue’s abstract geometrical shape
is a reference to the paper patterns used to create tailor made suits and its
powerful presence emphasises the dynamic gestures of a time-honoured art.
Commenting on the new Corporate Identity and
interlinking façade; Elisabetta Canali said:
“We have created a new signature to embody the taste of the
past and be expression of a timeless sense of elegance. Small squares that
intersect and are repeated into infinity to underline the idea of a constant
motion, creation and invention as nothing stay still. We focus on the idea of
movement and the infinite gestures performed each day by expert hands to
transform a Canali suit into reality.’
